IDENTITY

Adobe Illustrator

While designing the logo for Today's Archives I had editorial in mind at all times. Through competitive analysis, the established fashion editorial magazines all had a serif typeface as their logo or within their typography choice. There is no other serif typeface as classic as Times New Roman. To define ownership over logo other than just the typeface and the name itself, I tweaked the text a bit and deleted the dot on top of the letter "i" and allowed the bottom of the letter "y" to replace the dot.

TYPOGRAPHY

Adobe Illustrator

After establishing the typeface for the logo, I decided to use a different serif type for the paragraph styling as I wanted the Times New Roman logo to stand out from the User Interface. I created a variety amount of mockups with the combination of header & paragraph to make a decision and ended up with Acumin Pro Light & Freight Text Book.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN

Real Space Grey

Even though Today's Archives is a biannual newspaper, we frequently update our blog to showcase our current interest, we showcase a few online editorials and showcase our taste via a curated gallery of images. In order to test new UI patterns, I utilize Adobe XD & Sketch to design hi-fi mockups. I then take them into Invision to create a clickable prototype to utilize when performing a usability test.

One of my duties as Editor-in-Chief of Today's Archives is to design the layout of each issue. I collect all the copy that will be going into the issue from the managing editor as she has proofread and edited all copy. I collect all the visuals that I art directed that will accompany the copy from the associate editors. I collect the assets from clients who have purchased advertising space. I then create a mockup of the purchased spread and get an approval on it before taking it to production.
