FOR THOSE THAT KNOW

BACKGROUND

FOR THOSE THAT KNOW is an in-house personal collection of garments located in Los Angeles, California. The FOR THOSE THAT KNOW collection contains extremely limited and carefully selected timeless pieces from the most renowned designers. The challenge was to have the look of the brand convey that message in order to build a more prominent online presence and establish trust through a well-presented responsive website.

BRANDING & IDENTITY

Adobe Illustrator

Designing a logo for, FOR THOSE THAT KNOW was an interesting challenge as any typeface that was going to be used had to be something that has and will stand the test of time. I collaborated closely with the founder, Mitch Modes in the design and we were able to come to an agreement on the Helvetica lookalike typeface, Acumin Pro.

Before we were able to come to an agreement on the typeface logo, I designed a few ideas I had in mind to present to Mitch.

The phrase, "for those that know" had me thinking about the obscurity of it and so that's why the first example the rest of the "know" after the letter k is hidden. As for the second example, the letters get thinner, emphasizing on the known factor to get reduced down.

RETOUCH IMAGES

Adobe Photoshop

Mitch photographed all of his collection and tasked me to retouch all 42  images to have all the garments have a white background and sized to be able to fit proportionally in a grid for the collection page of the site.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN

Adobe XD

The responsive site is hosted on a WordPress theme, Semplice, which allows users to design the user interface without writing a single word of code. From previous experience, I knew some of the constraints that the theme has, so while designing the hi-fi mockups prototype through Adobe XD I kept that in mind.

CONCLUSION

Moving forward after delivering the identity, branding, and user interface to the client I schedule monthly calls with him and maintain the website. He sends over new assets to me and I provide mockups of what those new assets will look like before going to WordPress and updating the site.
